Art has always been more than paint on a canvas for me — it is a way of expressing emotions, memories, and the beauty I see in the world around me.
I work primarily with oil and watercolour, two mediums that allow me to capture both strength and softness. Every painting begins with a feeling: a quiet moment in nature, a beautiful memory, or simply the way light falls across a room. My hope is that each piece invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and feel something meaningful.
Finding My Voice as an Impressionist Painter
My style is rooted in contemporary impressionism — a language of light, colour, and emotion rather than rigid detail. I was drawn to impressionism because it speaks to the feeling of a place rather than its exact likeness. When I paint a landscape, I am not trying to recreate a photograph. I am trying to capture what it felt like to stand there, to breathe that air, to watch that light shift across the water.
I paint landscapes, seascapes, rivers, and skies — the quiet poetry of the natural world. Nature, to me, is the most sincere thing we have. In a world driven by technology and noise, we have slowly lost touch with the simplest, most essential parts of ourselves. My paintings are an invitation to return to that quieter place.
Oil Painting and Watercolour — Two Very Different Languages
Working in both oil and watercolour has taught me a great deal about patience and surrender. Oil painting allows me to build layers slowly, to rework, to deepen colour and texture over time. There is a richness to oil that feels permanent and grounded. You can see my original oil paintings here.

The Journey — Self-Doubt, Growth, and Continuing Anyway
Like many artists, my journey has not always been easy. There have been moments of self-doubt, challenges, and times when I wondered if my art would ever find its audience. Yet I continue to paint because creating art is part of who I am. It is not something I chose — it is something that chose me.
Formal art school training and a degree in fine art gave me the technical foundations. But it was years of painting, experimenting, and learning to trust my instincts that gave me my voice. Every painting I have made — even the ones that did not work — has been part of that education.
